The captain is happy with the progress you made and wants a full report of all your activities during these missions. He believes such reports are useful for all the crew, to better understand how to improve their actions in future missions.

Usually, such reports are also sent to the closest Federation Outpost for further studying. Each report is graded and given a proof of participation to the missions.

You can skip sending the report and get the proof directly from the captain (click here to download the certificate of participation). But if the guys over the Starbase 12 find it interesting enough, they send different rewards back to the authors.
